Travels to Vancouver Island, B.C. and films at Ft. Rupert and Blunden Harbor. Starts a company (NEW DIMENSIONS INC.) to make industrial films (CANDY FACTORY was to be the only one). Begins graduate study of anthropology at University of Washington. Except for making friends with the poet Ted Roethke these were dismal days considering the way anthropology was being taught and how little I learned from Peterson. Still, I came to know several inspired people including Mark Tobey about whom I would soon make a short film.
